About the Author: Glyn Haynie enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18. His military career spanned 20 years during which he served his country until his retirement in March of 1989. Glyn Haynie turned 19 soon after arriving in Vietnam where he found himself fighting with the Americal (23rd) Infantry Division. Before retiring, Haynie served as a drill instructor, a first sergeant, and finally as an instructor for the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA).
He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, French Commando Badge, Drill Instructor Badge and Army Recruiting Badge during his 20 year service in the Army.
After retirement, he completed his Bachelor of Science Computer Information Systems and an Master of Arts Computer Resources and Information Management. He worked as a software engineer/project manager for eight years and then taught for Park University as a full-time instructor and as an adjunct instructor for 13 years.
