REVENGE IS COMING
Available Amazon and Barnes & Noble The third, action-packed installment in the author’s “Promises” trilogy, set during and after the Vietnam war. Ten years after returning home, Sergeant Eddie Henderson is still haunted by the burning desire for revenge against the cruel Viet Cong who executed his friend in the war. Now living in the States, Lieutenant Dang is no less dangerous, with his gang of vicious killers, and he has Eddie firmly in his sights for vengeance . . . Now 1980, Eddie Henderson is adjusting well to civilian life. He is a teacher in an Austin high school, while his beloved wife Cheryl is expecting their third son, Ray. But, despite such a perfect life, Eddie is still driven by a bitter hunger for revenge. The target of his hatred is the brutal Viet Cong Lieutenant Dang, now a civilian refugee living in Eddie’s home state of Texas. Night after night Eddie relives the moment Dang executed his friend and fellow captor, Ray Laurel, ten years earlier, in the Quang Ngai Province – and the vow of revenge that Eddie made. Eddie’s anger is rekindled when he spots a photograph of Dang in a Houston newspaper. His inquiries lead him to discover that Dang is the leader of the Vietnamese fishermen’s union in the Little Saigon area of the city. Dang is despised by his fellow refugees, using former soldiers to intimidate and extort money from the fishermen. Eddie’s inquiries do not go unnoticed by Dang, and he takes the fight to Eddie with a vengeance. When a car bomb explodes in Eddie’s usual parking space, Eddie knows that the device was meant for him – it is followed by a taunting message from Dang. He knows that to take on Dang, he needs help. Eddie gets in touch with friends from his former unit, Carl Johnston, Little JJ, now known as Juan, and Lieutenant Brighton. While Brighton is prospering, as an ordained minister with a family, Carl and Juan have struggled to adapt to civilian life, the latter developing an obvious drinking problem; they both readily jump at the chance to exact their revenge on Dang. It was Carl who captured Dang before his escape, ten years earlier, and Juan is desperate to avenge his friend Bear, killed by Dang in the same operation. Eddie and his friends engage in a final battle with their deadliest enemy. A battle fought in the shadows, on U.S. soil. A battle that will test their loyalty and courage, and lay the pain of broken vows and lost bothers to rest once and for all. |
