The Interior Design is complete. It took a couple of back and forth emails for my input and changes. I am happy with the design and think it enhances the reading experience. Now we move on to the Print Layout for the complete manuscript and then proofreading. They will send the manuscript to me to accept or reject the proofreader’s recommendations. Once completed and errors corrected, it will be time to upload the files to the proper print company. Then the designers will create the eBook file and upload the file to create an eBook.
Editing of the book is complete. The editor did an outstanding job and was easy to work with.
I needed to complete a questionnaire for the Interior Design and Print Layout and provide three examples of book layouts that I liked to the design team. This was hard! Now the design team will create two Sample Text Designs and then work back and forth with me (if needed) until I’m pleased with the design. I will need to pick one, more decisions!
The next step is to move to the Full Interior Layout and then Proofreading. When the proofreader is finished, the design team will send his suggested revisions to me for my review. I’ll accept or reject as I choose, add any changes that I want made. They will enter all revisions and send me a Proof PDF for my review and confirmation that everything meets with my approval.
I should receive the two Sample Text Designs by Friday October 14.
The editing process is scary to me. This is my first time writing a book and I’m unsure what the individual (editor) editing my book will recommend or find incorrect. And this is the first time that someone outside my circle of friends (beta readers) will read the book.
The book was with the editor for over two weeks and I received it back on Friday September 30. I was surprised and happy that not much work was needed from the recommended corrections. I made the corrections and added three paragraphs which will need editing. Waiting for more feedback from the editor! Once the editing and corrections are done, then we start work on the interior design.
